Tea for hot flashes? I never thought tea would help my menopause symptoms, but herbs are POWERFUL and unique tools when used correctly!
If you are anything like me, I was searching on Google for literally anything that would cool me down and relieve my symptoms.
As I started to learn more about Functional Medicine, natural health, and root cause wellness, I began to understand the power of herbs and that herbal teas are suitable for hot flashes (and countless other things).
Through my studies as an Integrative Health Practitioner, I dove into Traditional Chinese Medicine. While I don’t consider myself a specialist in that area, I became interested in the healing benefits of herbal teas for hot flashes.
Herbs have a lot of healing benefits and are very under-utilized.
While the best way to approach your menopause symptoms is understanding and addressing your root causes, teas are a great way to get some relief in the short term and provide ongoing support.

What Are The Best Teas For Hot Flashes?

Ginseng Tea For Hot Flashes
Ginseng is known to have anti-inflammatory properties and can display effects similar to that of estrogen. Menopause happens as estrogen begins to decline and this rapid decline and imbalance of progesterone are one of the leading causes of menopause symptoms.
American ginseng is cooling and helps to reduce body temperature, making this herbal tea an excellent choice for hot flashes.
Black Cohosh Root Tea For Hot Flashes
Through my research on teas and herbs, I learned that this herb is most commonly used for menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes. Studies show that black cohosh can bind to your body’s opioid receptors, allowing it to have a pain-relieving effect. It can also reduce fatigue and improve your mood.
Chasteberry Tree Tea For Hot Flashes
Research suggests that the phytoestrogens (plant nutrients found in foods) in chasteberry tea reduce hot flashes and help with anxiety and brain fog.
This has become one of my favorite herbal teas for hot flashes.

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea For Hot Flashes
I have enjoyed putting this freshly brewed tea into my morning smoothies. It adds such a nice flavor!
This leaf is cooling and supports healthy estrogen levels to help with hot flashes, low libido, and vaginal dryness. I have also seen it helpful for women experiencing a heavier flow as they transition into menopause.
Dong Quai Tea For Hot Flashes
Dong Quai is a tea commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and I learned that it could help moderate a women’s estrogen production. This ensures that you are not making too much or too little (aka “equilibrium,” or your body will still stay in balance– which is the goal in root-caused-based medicine).
Researchers found that after three months of use, hot flashes and night sweats decreased, and sleep quality improved.
Valerian Root Tea For Hot Flashes
This tea was explicitly helpful for me when I was experiencing insomnia. This blend includes chamomile, another powerful herb that allows your body to go into a more relaxed state and has been shown to help sleep, which is a MUST when trying to rebalance your body!
Ginkgo Biloba Tea For Hot Flashes
Studies have shown that this herbal tea may reduce hot flashes and helps boost mood and concentration.
The Bottom Line
When shopping for teas, it is best to look for brands that use organic tea leaves and herbs. Pay close attention to how the teas are processed and presented to you. This will help ensure that the nutrients you consume are in the best form possible so your body can use them efficiently.
To avoid worsening hot flashes, you may choose to drink your tea warm instead of piping hot. OR, make it an iced tea and keep it in the fridge to enjoy anytime!
While the herbs and leaves in the above teas can help reduce your menopausal symptoms and hot flashes, I would love for you to consider what else you can do to lessen these symptoms.
